Two people have died and 13 others are receiving treatment after a devastating head-on collision on the Anyinam–Enyiresi stretch of the Accra–Kumasi Highway on Thursday, December 4, 2025. Emergency responders from the Anyinam Fire Station were alerted at 09:21 a.m. and arrived at the scene at 09:36 a.m. with a six-member rescue team led by LFM Awuku Samuel.
The crash involved a Toyota Hiace (AS-4191-25) and a Honda Pilot (AS-8086-14), both of which were found obstructing the road following the violent impact. The driver of the Honda Pilot and a female passenger were trapped inside the vehicle. Fire officers extricated the two and rushed them to the Enyiresi Government Hospital, where they were pronounced dead on arrival.
Thirteen other victims — 12 males and one female — had already been transported to the same hospital by bystanders and first responders before the arrival of the rescue crew.
According to eyewitness accounts, the Toyota Hiace, travelling from Nkawkaw towards Accra, attempted a wrongful overtaking manoeuvre, lost control, crossed into the opposite lane, and slammed into the oncoming Honda Pilot.
The Ghana National Fire Service team cleared the wreckage and restored traffic flow before returning to base at 11:05 a.m.
