33-year-old Man Given Death Sentence For Offering Son As Sacrifice

A young man, 33, has been sentenced to death by a seven-member jury for sacrificing his son for money rituals.

In February 2021, Prince Acquaye aka Juu, who was a food vendor said to his girlfriend, Abigail Nyumor (the complainant) that they were going to be rich in no time. He added that Abigail should not worry should something happen to their only son.

Somewhere in April the same year, the convict gave the victim (their son) 5.00gh to buy groundnut and later coaxed him to the seaside and pushed him into the sea. Prince succeeded in taking his son to the seaside when he realised Abigail was asleep.

Abigail’s nap was cut short by concerned neighbours who rushed to tell her that Prince had thrown their son into the sea, from the cliff at Akuma Village.

The innocent victim was rescued, rushed to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital but died the next day.

According to the investigations by prosecution, the convict had given himself in to be initiated into occultism in quest of wealth. In order to obtain wealth, Prince was to make a sacrifice and he chose his son by throwing him into the cliff in the Village. The Akuma Village cliff is said to be thirty-three feet above sea level.
