Justice Prevails in Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court

The Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court has sentenced Ifeanyi Ndieze to life imprisonment for the horrific act of sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl during a church program, per reports by Pulse Nigeria.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the court found Ndieze guilty of violating Section 261 of the Lagos State Criminal Law of 2015, which pertains to sexual assault by penetration. The Lagos State Government, which handled the prosecution, revealed that the crime occurred on October 29, 2020, at No. 18 Salau Street in Surulere, Lagos State.

In her statement, Justice Soladoye emphasized the gravity of the offense, stating, “The defendant is a pathological liar as he tried to deny the offence. This is an unforgivable behavior.” She then pronounced the life sentence, ensuring that Ndieze will spend the remainder of his life behind bars.

The judge went on to recount the harrowing details of the assault, shedding light on the immense suffering endured by the young victim. “The child identified the defendant as the man who carried her during a church program and sexually assaulted her by inserting his finger into her vagina,” Justice Soladoye stated. “The child was taken home, and while the mother bathed her, she was bleeding uncontrollably. At the hospital, doctors said that the matter should be reported to the police.”

The gravity of the situation was further evident when the child, at the police station, was still bleeding, her underwear serving as crucial evidence, soaked with blood. She was immediately taken to the hospital, where medical professionals confirmed that she had been forcibly penetrated, suffering severe pain as a result.

In addition to the life sentence, the judge decreed that Ndieze’s name be recorded in the Lagos State Sexual Offences Register, underscoring the significance of this conviction in the fight against sexual crimes and for the protection of vulnerable individuals.

This landmark verdict sends a powerful message about the unwavering commitment of the justice system to safeguarding the rights and well-being of children and all victims of sexual assault. It also serves as a beacon of hope for survivors, reaffirming their right to justice and a future free from fear.
