Tagoe Sisters Embrace Sobriety for the Sake of Music and Faith

Renowned Ghanaian gospel music duo, Lydia Dedei Yawson Nee Tagoe and Elizabeth Korkoi Tagoe, widely known as the Tagoe Sisters, recently shared a candid revelation about their past experiences with alcohol consumption. The sisters disclosed that they have chosen to abstain from alcohol due to its adverse effects on their health and its potential impact on their music career.

In an exclusive interview with Joyprime, the Tagoe Sisters explained that their decision to steer clear of alcohol was prompted by the recognition that it leads to dehydration and negatively affects the body’s overall well-being. They emphasized the importance of maintaining physical health to sustain their vibrant musical careers.

Lydia Dedei Yawson Nee Tagoe elaborated on their perspective, stating, “We have [taken alcohol] in the past. We stopped because it makes you dehydrated, you understand? So it doesn’t help your system. And we are growing too. So it’s not good for you to take one and then, at the end of the day when to sing hallelujah, hallelujah somebody, God bring another thing. And it could lead you to forget about it [song], you are singing the first stanza and you go to the second stanza.”

Moreover, the Tagoe Sisters emphasized that their faith played a pivotal role in this decision. They firmly believe that indulging in alcohol contradicts biblical teachings, making it an incompatible choice for their Christian values.

The sisters also acknowledged that while some individuals may benefit from moderate alcohol consumption, for instance, red wine for heart health, they cautioned against excessive intake. They stressed that overindulgence in alcohol can lead to improper behavior and advised caution.

Elizabeth Korkoi Tagoe added, “For us, I would say red wine is good for others because if it is a problem for heart’s sake. But when you take alcohol, you behave like somebody who doesn’t have manners, so it’s best to stay away.”

The Tagoe Sisters’ candid admission sheds light on their commitment to maintaining a healthy and spiritually aligned lifestyle, prioritizing their music and faith above all else. Their story serves as an inspiration to many, resonating with those who value the intersection of artistry, faith, and wellness.
