Tragic Incident Unfolds in Marimba as Wife Takes Drastic Action After Husband’s Three-Day Absence

A 27-year-old woman, Rachel Gomba, has been arrested for the alleged murder of her husband, Paddy Mangisa Mlambo, also 27, following his three-day disappearance from their Marimba residence. The incident took place on Sunday at approximately 6am, when Mlambo returned home.

According to reports from The Herald, tensions escalated when Gomba confronted her husband about his whereabouts, only to be met with an unsatisfactory response. This led to a heated argument, culminating in a tragic outcome as Mlambo was fatally stabbed with a kitchen knife, sustaining a single wound to the thigh.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident, stating, “ZRP Marimba have arrested Rachel Gomba aged 27 for a case of murder in which she allegedly fatally stabbed her husband, Paddy Mangisa Mlambo aged 27, with a kitchen knife once on the thigh in Marimba, Harare, on October 23, 2022 at around 6am. The couple had a fight after the husband, who had been away for three days, failed to give a satisfactory answer.”

Investigations into the case are currently underway, seeking to shed light on the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.

Meanwhile, in a separate and equally distressing incident, authorities in Karoi are actively investigating a case of baby abandonment, which transpired near Chiedza Primary School. At the dump site, a two-day-old baby boy was discovered wrapped in a white towel. The infant has been transferred to Karoi Hospital for further care.

This occurrence follows a recent arrest in Mubaira, where Shamiso Isaya (37) was apprehended in connection with an act of infanticide. Isaya allegedly threw her two children, aged five months and three years, into a 17-meter-deep well after a dispute with her husband. Tragically, the five-month-old girl lost her life in the incident, while the three-year-old boy was rescued and promptly treated at a local clinic.

These heartbreaking incidents serve as stark reminders of the complex challenges individuals and families face, underscoring the need for support networks and resources to ensure the safety and well-being of all members of the community.
