The 68th celebration of Ghana’s Independence Day will take place at the Jubilee House, the seat of government, in an effort to reduce expenses.

Unlike previous years, where the national event was rotated among different regions, this year’s celebration will be more modest and centralized in Accra. According to Hon. Kwakye Felix Ofosu, Member of Parliament for Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese, the decision was made to minimize costs associated with transporting security personnel, their vehicles, and other key logistical elements from the capital to other regions.

The annual Independence Day celebrations typically involve a grand parade, cultural displays, and participation from high-ranking government officials, security agencies, and schoolchildren. However, this year’s scaled-down event reflects the government’s commitment to prudent spending amid economic challenges.
