The President of the Republic has, with immediate effect, revoked the appointment of Anne Sansa Daly as a member of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) Board. The revocation follows concerns surrounding the credibility of her academic and professional credentials.
In a letter dated May 28, 2025, and signed by Dr. Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President, the Presidency directed that Ms. Daly be relieved of her role and replaced without delay.
“I write to inform you that the President of the Republic has, with immediate effect, revoked the appointment of Anne Sansa Daly as a member of the Board of National Health Insurance Authority. The President has nominated Prof. Dr. (Med) Ernest Yorke to replace her as a member of the Board,” the letter stated.
The President has subsequently nominated Prof. Dr. (Med) Ernest Yorke, a highly respected medical professional, to serve in her stead. Professor Yorke is widely known in medical circles for his decades of clinical and administrative experience and is expected to bring technical expertise and renewed credibility to the NHIA board.
The letter further instructed relevant authorities to take all necessary steps to facilitate the swearing-in of the new board member.
“Please accept the assurances of the highest consideration of His Excellency, the President of the Republic,” the correspondence concluded.
The development comes amid increased public scrutiny over appointments to state institutions and renewed calls for transparency and meritocracy in public service.
The National Health Insurance Authority plays a critical role in Ghana’s healthcare system, overseeing the administration of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), which provides access to basic healthcare services for millions of Ghanaians.
