The Aburi Girls Senior High School (SHS) in Ghana’s Eastern Region is mourning the untimely passing of its revered Headmistress, Mrs. Cynthia Anim.
According to Joy News, The tragic event occurred while she was attending an educational workshop in Rome, Italy. She was there alongside the Deputy Minister of Education, other senior high school heads, and selected students.
Mrs. Anim, a dedicated educator with a passion for improving Ghana’s secondary education, was participating in an international program aimed at enhancing educational standards when she passed away unexpectedly.
In a statement released by Rev. E.A. Asiedu, Chairman of the school’s Board of Governors, the loss has left students, staff, and parents devastated. “With the sure hope of the resurrection, we regret to inform honourable members of the sad and distressing news of the passing of our Headmistress, Mrs. Cynthia Anim,” he announced. Rev. Asiedu further highlighted Mrs. Anim’s immense contributions to the academic progress of Aburi Girls SHS, describing her as a visionary leader whose efforts had raised the school’s standards.
The school community, deeply shaken by this loss, has expressed their condolences to her family. To address the situation, an emergency board meeting has been scheduled for Monday, September 30, at 10 a.m. in the school’s Boardroom. The meeting will focus on the next steps following Mrs. Anim’s passing, as well as ensuring her legacy continues to shape the future of the school.
