The Kade District Court in the Eastern Region has remanded five suspects for their involvement in the assault of a teacher at Kade Senior High Technical School (SHTS). The accused persons pleaded guilty to attacking Michael Quayson, a teacher at the school.

Four of the suspects, who are adults, were remanded into prison custody, while a 17-year-old juvenile was placed in police custody. They are all expected to appear before the court again on January 20, 2026, with the juvenile’s case to be handled separately by a Juvenile Court.

Emotions ran high at the court as family members and some of the accused broke down in tears while the suspects were being taken away by the police. The incident has drawn strong public attention due to its impact on teacher safety.

Mr. Awoonor-Yevu also urged students to focus on their studies and avoid bad influences. He added that police are still searching for three more suspects connected to the attack, stressing that justice must be served to protect teachers across the country.
