Beloved Ghanaian actress, Adwoa Smart, has opened up about a difficult chapter in her life, revealing that relentless teasing and bullying led her to abandon her education at a young age.
In a candid interview, Adwoa Smart, born Belinda Naa Ode Oku, shared the emotional toll her school years took on her due to constant mockery over her stature. The iconic actress, who became a household name through her role in the popular Akan Drama TV series *Obra*, disclosed how the cruel treatment she faced in school made her lose interest in her studies.
“I stopped going to school because my mates were laughing at me because of my size,” she recounted. “It got so bad that I lost interest in going to school, so I dropped out.”
Adwoa Smart expressed deep frustration with the school authorities, criticizing their failure to intervene and protect her from the bullying. “The teachers didn’t help me at all. They were supposed to protect me, but they didn’t,” she said.
When asked why she didn’t seek education elsewhere, she explained that her young age at the time left her with limited options. “It was beyond me…I was very young and couldn’t make decisions on my own. If it were to be now, I would’ve continued.”
