Afua Asantewaa Faces Ordeal as Armed Robbers Target Home Before Guinness World Record Attempt”
Afua Asantewaa, the woman attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon, disclosed a distressing incident where armed robbers targeted her home just a day before her audacious Sing-A-Thon.
During an interview with Lily Mohammed on GHOne TV, Afua Asantewaa recounted the harrowing experience, revealing that armed assailants attempted to gain entry into their house on two separate occasions, Wednesday and Sunday, leading up to the Sing-A-Thon.
Detailing the attacks, Asantewaa shared that although the robbers managed to infiltrate her home on the second occasion, they left without taking anything, causing chaos and disorder. The first attempt, occurring on Wednesday, was unsuccessful in breaching their residence.
She expressed her distress, saying, “Let me use your platform to say that on Monday before the actual Sing-A-Thon, we were attacked in the night by robbers in our house. But they couldn’t get in and I think the Wednesday before the Sunday. We had an attack again, when we got home they had broken into our home. We don’t know how they got in.”
According to Asantewaa, the second incident forced her to relocate her family to a different location before the Guinness World Record attempt. Despite the intruders ransacking their belongings, she noted that they didn’t take anything substantial, leaving behind a trail of chaos.
“They just ransacked all our stuff, they didn’t take money, and they didn’t take anything. All they took was my husband’s deodorant and perfume. There were laptops, there was money, and they didn’t take anything. They just came to mess the place up, that was the Wednesday before I started. So we had to leave home and go lodge at a hotel and all that, so after the Sing-A-Thon, we could go home,” she narrated.
As Asantewaa perseveres in her attempt to break the Guinness World Record, this unfortunate incident adds an unexpected and challenging chapter to her remarkable journey.
