Body Of Atsu On The Way To Ghana – Hatayspor Club Issue A Statement
Sadly, Ghanaian winger, Christian Atsu happens to be among the huge number of people who lost their lives following the earthquake in Turkey.
The death toll from the Turkey-Syria earthquakes is currently nearing 44,000 , according to reports as at Friday, February 17. Turkish authorities have even said that at least 38,044 people have been killed in the 7.7 magnitude earthquake which stroke on Monday February 6, 2023.
After the body of Christian Atsu was located, lifeless, his club, Hatayspor has issued a statement confirming his death, and that the body of the player has already been prepared to return to his home soil, Ghana.
“The funeral of our football player Christian Atsu, who lost his life under the rubble ( debris), is on his way to be sent to his hometown, Ghana. We will not forget you, Atsu. Peace be upon you, beautiful person. There are no words to describe our sadness.
REST in PEACE ATSU” – Hatayspor Club wrote on Twitter after the player’s body was recovered from under the rubble
Christian was 31. They last time he played, he scored a free-kick in the last minute to win the game for Hatayspor.
