The Kumasi High Court has granted approval for the final funeral rites of legendary Ghanaian musician Charles Kwadwo Fosu, widely known as Daddy Lumba, to proceed as scheduled on December 6, 2025.

This follows the court’s dismissal of an interlocutory injunction application filed by Lumba’s wife, Akosua Serwaa, who sought to halt the funeral arrangements initiated by the musician’s extended family.

Mrs. Serwaa had petitioned the court to suspend the funeral until certain disputes were resolved. However, presiding judge Justice Dorinda Smith Arthur ruled on Tuesday, October 28, that under Ghanaian customary law, the right to make decisions regarding a deceased person’s body lies with the family.

Justice Arthur noted that preventing the family from proceeding with the funeral would not be in the best interest of either the family or the public.

“Accordingly, the application for interlocutory injunction is hereby refused,” she declared.
