Don’t Pretend You Love Him [Atsu] – John Paintsil Queries GFA
Former Black Stars right-back, John Paintsil has questioned the kind of love the Ghana Football Association (GFA) seems to have for Christian Atsu at the time the player is no more alive.
Accord to the former defender, speaking in an interview on Original FM 91.9, Christian Atsu was shoddily used by the GFA and dumped which went a long way to affect his playing stability at the club level.
John Paintsil labeled the GFA as hypocrites and queried them on why they shunned Atsu even at the time the player was playing like Messi.
“Some people are hypocrites. Atsu was one of Ghana’s finest players. Sometimes we don’t take care of the good materials we have in the country.
You snubbed him and kicked him out of your Black Stars at age 31. Atsu has been struggling to get a permanent stay in a club since the snub. We all know the Value & Respect your club gives you when you play for your Nation. Don’t pretend you loved him because you don’t at all.” He told Original FM, Accra.
Atsu was confirmed dead on Sunday after being trapped under rubble for twelve days following the 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Turkey.
The player’s mortal remains was brought to Ghana, with Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia promising his family that the state will be fully involved to give him a befitting burial.
