E/R: Tragedy Strikes as School Bus Carrying  62 Children Crash Leaving Several Feared Dead

Aseseeso, Eastern Region – A tragic accident on the Aseseeso stretch between Adukrom and Somanya has left several students from Ben Kunadu SDA Basic School in Asante Akyem feared dead after their bus crashed on Friday.

The bus, which was carrying 62 children on an excursion to Akosombo, reportedly lost control while descending a hill. Eyewitnesses say the vehicle somersaulted multiple times before landing on its side, leaving a scene of devastation.

Eastern Regional Minister Rita Akosua Awatey, who was passing by at the time of the accident, immediately joined rescue efforts, assisting in transporting some of the injured students to the Yilo Krobo Municipal Hospital for urgent medical attention.

Emergency responders, including the Police, Fire Service, and Ambulance teams, are at the scene working to recover trapped victims and provide aid to survivors.

Authorities have yet to confirm the exact number of casualties, but preliminary reports suggest multiple fatalities and several others critically injured. Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
