The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has issued an urgent advisory to customers using Nuri Prepaid Meters to top up their meter credit sufficiently to last at least one month. This measure aims to prevent any disruptions to electricity vending services during a scheduled upgrade of the Nuri Prepayment system and other Standard Transfer Specifications (STS) metering systems.
In a statement released on Saturday, November 23, 2024, ECG emphasized the importance of the upgrade, describing it as a “mandatory STS upgrade designed to ensure uninterrupted vending services.” The upgrade is part of ECG’s efforts to modernize its infrastructure and enhance service delivery for customers.
To facilitate a smooth transition, the company encouraged customers to act promptly by topping up their prepaid meters in advance. “For your convenience and the immediate upgrade of your Nuri Prepayment meters, please call our call centre on 0302 611611 or contact us via our social media platforms (ECGghOfficial) for expedited action,” ECG stated.
The upgrade is expected to align all meters with the latest vending protocols, ensuring a streamlined and efficient electricity payment process. ECG has assured customers of its readiness to assist during the exercise and has urged them to cooperate fully to minimize potential inconveniences.
The company also reiterated its commitment to improving service delivery and maintaining reliable electricity distribution. Customers with concerns or requiring further assistance have been encouraged to reach out to ECG through its dedicated call center or social media channels.
