One fisherman by name Joseph Armah, wildly known in his neighborhood as Asaa, has pleaded guilty of defilement. The 23-year-old has been sentenced to serve eight years imprisonment for defiling a four-year-old girl at Chorkor in Accra by the Gender Based Violence Court at the Police Headquarters.
According to reports by Graphics online, The presiding judge court, Dora Eshun, convicted Asaa and sentenced him accordingly after he pleaded guilty.
Chief Inspector Opoku Aniagyei, leading the prosecution, informed the court that the complainant, a boxer living in Lantemaamli-Chorkor, is the uncle of the four-year-old victim as the convict, also resided in Chorkor.
On November 29, 2024, around 3:00 PM, Armah noticed the victim playing nearby and called her over. He gave her a GHC1 coin to buy a biscuit, which she purchased and ate.
Afterwards, Armah held the four-year-old victim’s hand into his room along the seashore and had sexual contact with her, prosecution said.
After the incident, Armah traveled to Apam, while the victim returned home.
Upon arrival, her mother noticed a change in the way she walked and questioned her. The victim then revealed what Armah had done.
The mother immediately called the complainant and informed him of the situation.
According to the prosecution, a report was filed at the Mamprobi Police Station, and a medical form was issued to the complainant to seek medical attention for the girl.
Armah was later arrested, and an investigative caution statement was taken from him.
