Ghanaian actor and comedian, Funny Face (real name Benson Nana Yaw Oduro), recently shared an emotional story about his battle with depression at a church event.
He spoke openly about facing serious depression and even having suicidal thoughts. However, he explained that his strong faith in God helped him through those dark times.
Funny Face encouraged everyone to trust in God’s plan, even when life gets tough. Using his own experiences as an example, he advised people to believe in God, hold onto hope, and never give up.
“I have been close to death, but today I am alive. I went through deep depression and even thought about ending my life. But God saved me, and that is why I believe in Him.
“I have suffered a lot. I have been to the psychiatric hospital and even spent time in prison. But with God’s help, I am still fighting, and I believe we will win,” he said.
Funny Face’s mental health struggles have been widely known, as he has spoken about his time in the psychiatric hospital multiple times.
In 2024, he was involved in a car accident in Kasoa, where he accidentally knocked down four people. He was arrested for drunk driving and reckless driving but was later granted bail of GH¢120,000 by the court.
