GES Debunks False Reports on SHS Placement Cut-Off Points
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has cautioned the public against misleading reports circulating on social media and other platforms about supposed “cut-off points” for Senior High School placements.
In a public notice signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations, GES clarified that placement is not determined by fixed cut-off points but is primarily based on the raw scores of students. The process also takes into account the competitiveness of schools and programmes, the aggregate of candidates, residential preferences such as day or boarding, as well as catchment area considerations.
GES stressed that the idea of a fixed cut-off is false and misleading, adding that parents, guardians, and students should disregard such claims as the handiwork of unscrupulous individuals seeking to exploit the system.
The Service assured all stakeholders of a transparent, fair, and merit-based placement process, which ensures every qualified candidate gets an equal opportunity.
