After the 2022 Commonwealth Games during which Team Ghana won five medals in Birmingham, one Ghanaian delegate is reported missing, according to the police.
It was further revealed that seventeen people comprising thirteen athletes and four delegates are reported not found since the start of the the games.
Following thorough search, nine out of the seventeen have been found safe while measures and efforts are still underway to look for the whereabouts of the remaining eight.
“We’ve received a total of 17 missing people reports from visiting Commonwealth Games delegations – 13 competitors and four other delegation members. Of those, nine have since been found and eight remain outstanding….“We’re making enquiries alongside immigration officials to ensure they are safe and well.” – the spokesperson of the force said.
The outstanding eight people comprise two Pakistani boxers, named in media reports as Suleman Baloch, 22, and Nazeer Ullah Khan, 25; five from Sri Lankan and one delegation member from Ghana.
