Seidu Rafiwu has etched his name into the annals of history, completing a remarkable 383-kilometer journey on foot from Techiman to Accra in just 96 hours. His feat, aimed at securing a Guinness World Record for the longest walk-a-thon, culminated at the Independence Square in Osu, Accra, on Tuesday, April 30.
The ambitious endeavor saw Rafiwu trekking through the Bono, Ashanti, and Eastern Regions of Ghana, facing the elements and testing the limits of human endurance. Along the way, there were moments of adversity, including rumors of his collapse near the Konongo township. However, Rafiwu swiftly dispelled these reports, clarifying that any footage circulating on social media depicted his scheduled recovery sessions with the medical team.
During breaks in his journey, Rafiwu received essential support from his team, who diligently tended to his physical well-being, massaging his thighs and legs to alleviate any strain or discomfort. These intervals proved crucial in enabling Rafiwu to push through the grueling challenge and ultimately achieve his goal.
Rafiwu’s monumental feat not only showcases his personal determination but also serves as a testament to the human spirit’s resilience and capacity for extraordinary achievement. By his attempt surpassing the previous record set by America’s Jesse Casteneda in 1976, Rafiwu has carved out a place in history, inspiring countless others to dare to dream and pursue their own aspirations, one step at a time.
We still await final verdict from GWR staff.
