Officials at the Guinness World Records (GWR) have shed light on why Afua Asantewaa fell short in her attempt to break the record for the longest singing marathon.
In a response to inquiries from Joy FM, Alina Polianskaya, PR Executive for GWR, revealed that Asantewaa’s singathon fell short of the mark due to failure to adhere to specific guidelines, particularly regarding rest break timings. Polianskaya emphasized that these rules are standard across all GWR records, including those for marathon singing sessions.
Asantewaa’s bid, which took place in December 2023, was officially declared unsuccessful by GWR on Friday, February 23, 2024. Despite this setback, GWR expressed hope that Asantewaa would consider another attempt in the future.
The announcement, made via X, underscored the rigorous standards upheld by GWR in verifying record attempts. While Asantewaa’s effort may have fallen short this time, her determination and passion for singing remain evident, leaving the door open for future attempts at achieving this remarkable feat.
