Black Stars, SIXSCRIBES – The Senior Coach of the Black Stars, Otto Addo speaks on the need to recruit competent Ghanaian players born abroad into the Ghana National team to help strengthen it.
Responding to BBC, Otto Addo talks about the work done by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the technical team of the Black Stars since March, 2022, towards convincing foreign-based-Ghanaians to declare their commitment to the Black Stars.
“Since March we’ve been talking to a lot of players who we think can have an impact on the team,” Coach Addo.
He also adds he acknowledges this tough decision for young players to switch and play for a country they are not brought up in, but, the players have decided to be part of the team, not just for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
“I can understand it can be a difficult decision, especially if you were born in another country and you’re young.”
“It’s a tough decision and they know what they’re getting into. Surely it’s not just about this World Cup.”
Inaki Williams, Tariq Lamptey, Mohammed Salisu, Patric Pfeiffer, Stephan Ambrosius and Ransford-Yeboah become the new players who have declared to be available and diligent to the Black Stars of Ghana.
Ghana plays in 2022 World Cup battling Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea in Group H.
