Karim Benzema has Seemingly announced an end to a story that refers to his retirement from international duties since the player is still active playing for Real Madrid.
The 2022 Ballon d’Or winner missed Qatar World Cup due to injury and had to watch his teammates play to the finals from home.
He has taken to social media to confirm his retirement from the French National Team.
“I made the effort and the mistakes it took to be where I am today and I’m proud of it! I have written my story and ours is ending.” — He wrote in a statement wearing the National Team jersey.
Bezema Played a total of 97 matches for the Les Blues of France and made 57 goal contributions; scored 37 goals and provided 20 assists.
The Real Madrid forward missed the 2016 Euro final and the 2018 World Cup victory. He was dropped from the French team by Didier Deschamps following an alleged conviction of helping to blackmail teammate Mathieu Valbuena over a sex tape.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid have wished Benzema a happy birthday as he turns 35 today.
