The management team of Ghanaian musician King Paluta has officially petitioned the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) board regarding the exclusion of his hit song “Makoma” from this year’s nominations.
In a letter addressed to the TGMA board, the team expressed disappointment over the song’s omission despite its widespread popularity and impact within the year under review. “Makoma” was submitted for consideration in multiple categories, including Most Popular Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Hiplife Song of the Year, and Songwriter of the Year (King Paluta). However, after the official nominee announcement, the team realized the song had been left out entirely.
King Paluta’s management has called for an explanation, emphasizing their confidence in the TGMA board’s credibility. They insist that “Makoma” meets all moral and ethical requirements and are open to further discussions regarding its reconsideration.
The petition has sparked conversations among music lovers, with many fans questioning the selection process and fairness of the awards. The TGMA board is yet to respond.
