Renowned Hiplife/Highlife musician Martin Kofi King Arthur, popularly known as Kofi Kinaata, was involved in a car accident on Busia Road. Initial reports stated that the driver of the vehicle had tragically lost his life in the accident, which also involved an Okada (motorbike) rider.
An early social media post claimed: “Kofi Kinaata allegedly engaged in a gory accident a little over 20 minutes ago on the Busia road. Driver dead on the spot.”
However, an authentic update from a member of Kofi Kinaata’s team, who was also involved in the accident, clarified that the earlier reports were false. He posted: “Please, we’re all okay and the driver didn’t die. Kofi Kinaata is also fine. A motor rider crossed the car.”
The team member later elaborated, explaining that the incident was a head-on collision with the motorbike, but assured the public that everyone in the car was safe.
Kofi Kinaata himself addressed the situation in a Facebook Live update, confirming his well-being and reassuring fans that he had escaped unharmed. He stated: “We are fine, no one is dead… we were on our way to a show and had a head-on collision with a motorbike.”He further mentioned that the two people on the motorbike were in critical condition.
The ‘Susuka’ hitmaker expressed his gratitude for the support and love shown by his fans, saying, “Thank you all for your concern. We’re safe.”
The accident occurred on Sunday, September 22, as Kinaata and his team were headed to an event in the Western Region. Fans have since taken to social media to express relief over his safety and send prayers for the injured motorbike riders.
