Celebrated Ghanaian musician and keyboard virtuoso, Kwame Nkansah, has shed light on the multifaceted nature of achieving success in the music industry  in a conversation on the GTV Breakfast Show with host Kafui Dey.

One of the most common inquiries directed towards Nkansah pertains to why his songs aren’t predominantly in English, a language often perceived as a prerequisite for international acclaim. Dismissing this notion, Nkansah emphasized that while a robust promotional plan is crucial, elements like timing and, most notably, a touch of grace, are equally indispensable.

“Even with the best plan in place, if the timing isn’t aligned, success may prove elusive. Some artists possess all the necessary components, yet lack the grace to carry them through,” he asserted.

Despite acknowledging these challenges, Nkansah maintains a pragmatic outlook, ensuring such concerns do not unduly weigh on his creative process. He draws inspiration from the legendary Ghanaian Reggae maestro, Kojo Antwi, who pioneered a versatile approach to reggae music.

Antwi’s innovative fusion of rock and funk elements in compositions such as “Rockland” and “Akonoba” has indelibly influenced Nkansah’s musical journey.

“Kwadwo Antwi’s non-linear progression, often commencing his songs with unconventional sounds, showcases his brilliance in composition,” Nkansah praised.

During the interview, Nkansah took a moment to pay homage to some of his most influential mentors, including Kwadwo Antwi, Naace, Maurice Babyface, Akosua Agyapong, and Mr. Simons. He attested that these figures played pivotal roles in sculpting his musical evolution, instilling in him a diverse and adaptable approach to his craft.

This perspective serves as a resounding reminder that musical success transcends linguistic boundaries. Nkansah’s belief in the interplay of time, promotion, and grace as catalytic forces for achievement stands as a testament to his unwavering dedication to the art form. As he continues to navigate the global music scene, Kwame Nkansah remains an exemplar of the harmonious blend of talent, dedication, and fortuitous timing that paves the way for extraordinary musical journeys.
