Accra, August 7, 2025 – The National Communications Authority (NCA) has officially notified Multichoice Ghana Limited of its intention to suspend the company’s authorisation to operate its Satellite Television Broadcasting (Pay TV Direct-to-Home Bouquet) service in Ghana.
The regulatory move, announced in a press release issued today, is based on Section 13 of the Electronic Communications Act, 2008 (Act 775), which empowers the Authority to take such actions when service conditions are deemed contrary to the public interest.
According to the NCA, Multichoice Ghana’s current pricing model has raised concerns, prompting the Authority to initiate the process for possible suspension of the company’s Subscription Management Service Authorisation.
“In accordance with the law, Multichoice Ghana has been granted thirty (30) days to respond. Within this period, the company may present its views, take remedial steps, or submit a written statement of objections to the proposed suspension,” the NCA stated.
The Authority reiterated its commitment to protecting consumer interests and ensuring fair competition in the broadcasting and telecommunications sectors.
