Nine (9) Children Dead After Boat Capsise At Faanaa-Bortianor in Accra
After a thorough search, the final body out of nine children was retrieved on Thursday, May 11, 2023, after a boat carrying them submerged into the water at Faanaa-Bortianor in the Greater Accra Region, Ghana.
The basic school pupils were said to have went under the water and suffocated to death later on Wednesday afternoon while returning from school.
According to a report by Joy FM, the owner of the capsised boat is currently in police custody helping with investigations.
Meanwhile, the remains of the victims have been conveyed to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital mortuary in Accra in which the Police have also contacted parents to help identify their kin.
It is also reported that Traditional authorities have performed supposed customary rituals to enable the families to bury the deceased.
