Seven students at Labone Senior High School were prevented from taking their West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) on Monday, August 26, 2024, due to tardiness. This incident marks the second time these students have arrived late for their exams.
The Headmistress of Labone SHS, Rejoice Akua Acorlor, reported the issue during a visit from the Deputy Minister of Education, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour. The Deputy Minister was at the school to oversee the progress of the exams and to offer encouragement to the candidates.
According to Citi News, Acorlor expressed her dismay, noting that students had been well-informed about the importance of punctuality. “Today’s exam was in social studies. We began on time, and students were instructed to arrive 30 minutes prior to the start. We expected them an hour before the exam began, but some arrived after the first hour and 20 minutes, which was too late according to WAEC regulations.”
Acorlor emphasized that despite previous warnings, the students continued to arrive late, leading to their exclusion from the exam. She urged parents to reinforce the importance of punctuality with their children and assured that the school is committed to addressing the issue.
Deputy Minister Rev. Ntim Fordjour acknowledged the situation and stated, “The rules are very clear, and I need to gather specific details about this incident before making any further comments. I urge all stakeholders to adhere to examination regulations. I will review this matter further to ensure proper handling.”
Your point of view caught my eye and was very interesting. Thanks. I have a question for you.
