A teacher at Nyinahin Catholic Senior High School has been arrested. This happened after a video was shared online showing him fighting with a female student at the school.
Daniel Fenyi, a spokesperson for the Ghana Education Service (GES), confirmed the arrest on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. “Student of Nyinahini Catholic SHS seen in viral video fighting with a teacher arrested with the teacher. Both are undergoing medical examination for any potential harm on themselves. Investigations continue,” he said. He stated that regional education leaders are looking into the matter and will send a full report to their main office.
Many people became angry after seeing the video on social media. In the video, the teacher is seen hitting the student multiple times and then throwing her to the ground. People watching the fight shouted at the teacher to stop and reminded him that the student is a girl. The angry teacher replied by asking if she knew she was a girl.
School leaders and the Ghana Education Service have not yet explained why the fight started.
