Kumawu MP Condemns Teacher Brawl at Pepease School, Calls for GES Probe
Member of Parliament for the Kumawu Constituency, Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim, has strongly condemned a violent altercation between two male teachers at a school in Pepease, describing the incident as “highly unacceptable, unprofessional, and a disgrace to the teaching profession.”
The two teachers reportedly engaged in a physical fight on school premises over a disagreement involving a female colleague, an incident that has since gone viral and sparked public outcry.
In an official statement issued on Friday, Hon. Anim expressed deep disappointment over the conduct of the teachers involved, noting that their actions violated the values expected of educators and undermined the integrity of the teaching profession.
“As a Member of Parliament, I hold our educators in the highest regard and expect them to exhibit discipline, maturity, and a strong moral compass at all times,” he stated. “That two teachers allowed a personal disagreement to degenerate into violence on school premises is deeply disappointing and reflects a gross lack of self-control.”
Hon. Anim emphasized the broader implications of the incident, warning that such behavior not only tarnishes the image of the school and educational community but also sends the wrong message to students.
“Our children must be able to look up to their teachers—not fear or question them,” he said.
He called on the Ghana Education Service (GES) to immediately investigate the incident and apply appropriate disciplinary action if necessary. He also urged the school’s administration to provide psychological support and counseling to students who may have been traumatized by the event.
“Acts of indiscipline within our schools must be addressed decisively to preserve the sanctity and integrity of our learning environments,” the MP stressed.
The statement concluded with a call for collective responsibility in promoting professionalism, respect, and order within the education sector.
