Two Arrested in Connection with Robbery and Murder of Mobile Money Vendor in Walewale
The Ghana Police Service has apprehended two suspects believed to be involved in a robbery and murder case in Walewale, located in the North East Region. The arrests come after an intelligence-led operation conducted on February 17, 2024, following a tragic incident that occurred on February 12, 2024.
According to initial police reports, the suspects, identified as Zakaria Yamusa, also known as Vandam, and Fatao Issah, allegedly perpetrated a robbery attack that resulted in the death of two individuals, including a mobile money vendor. Additionally, seven others sustained injuries during the violent incident.
A statement released by the police on Saturday, February 17, 2024, confirmed that efforts are underway to apprehend all other perpetrators involved in the crime. The arrested suspects, Vandam and Fatao Issah, are currently undergoing processing for court proceedings to ensure they face justice for their alleged actions.
Furthermore, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, personally reached out to the injured individuals and the families of the deceased victims via telephone calls. He assured them of the police’s commitment to conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.
