Concerning the welfare and conditions of service of University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG), Professor Ransford Gyampo in an interview with Metro Television stated that they are prepared to fight for their conditions, which is not targeted to any political party.
“This is not a struggle against Government, it is not a struggle or fight that teams up with the opposition, it has everything to do with our conditions of service which we feel are very poor and we must work to articulate the matters such that they are addressed by the Government.”
He further stated that the government is only interested in setting tables and negotiating with UTAG but truly, they do not eat negotiations nor meetings.
Professor Gyampo, a University of Ghana lecturer has been at the war front fighting for the UTAG. He led them to strike a few days ago due to poor conditions of service which they have been fighting for many years.
Professor Ransford Gyampo explained that it has become clear that the Government of Ghana does not understand any language apart from strikes.
He said “Our members have simply said that there are so many bottle necks, cunning and deceitful Strategies being employed to outsmart university teachers who taught policy makers.
The UTAG is poised for any action to get the attention of the government to meet their needs.
