After admitting to kicking the abdomen and slapping his cat on the head, former Chelsea footballer Kurt Zouma has been sentenced to 180 hours of community service for causing pain to his domestic cat.
At the Thames Magistrates’ Court, Kurt Zouma, 27, also received a ban not to domesticate cats for a period of five(5) years, 12-months community order and was told to pay nearly £9,000 in court costs.
The footage went viral when Kurt’s junior brother, Yoan, 24, posted a video of the action on Snapchat in February, 2022.
The cat the was kicked was blamed for damaging a chair in Kurt’s house. During the prosecution, Hazel Stevens said Kurt Zouma’s voice was heard in the video saying: “I swear I’ll kill it, I swear I’ll kill it.”
Because of the voice, Ms Stevens said; “Kurt Zouma is determined to chastise or carry out some sort of retribution for the damage caused”.
