The Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Malik Basintale, has announced plans to create 2,000 permanent jobs using discarded coconut husks.
In a Facebook post, Mr. Basintale highlighted the economic potential of what is often seen as waste. He wrote:
“You see this here, they are called coconut husks—the leftovers after enjoying your coconut milk or juice that litter the city. This afternoon I shall be creating 2,000 permanent jobs from it while saving the environment 😊.”
The initiative, according to him, will not only generate employment opportunities but also help address environmental challenges caused by indiscriminate disposal of coconut husks across the country.
If successfully implemented, the project is expected to provide sustainable livelihoods for young people while contributing to environmental cleanliness and waste management.
