Andre Onana has spoken for the first time following his absence to keep the post for Cameroon against Serbia in the group G match.
Onana was said to had misunderstood some directives of head coach Regobert Song which to the goalkeeper’s earlier suspension.
Onana said accepting there was a situation that let to some disagreements but despite the failure of all efforts to patch up with management of the team, he accepts the decision of the leader of the team.
I have put all my efforts and energy into finding solutions to a situation that a footballer often experiences, but there has been no will on the other side. Some moments are difficult to assimilate. However, always respect and support the decisions of the people in charge of pursuing the success of our Team and Country.
“I extend all my strength to my teammates because we demonstrated that we are capable of going very far in this competition” — Onana wished his teammates well despite not being part of them in subsequent matches.
