Ghana’s Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has announced that all outstanding nursing and teacher trainee allowances for the first half of the year—January to June 2025—have been fully paid.
The assurance was given during the presentation of the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review in Parliament on Wednesday, July 23.
“We have paid all nursing and teacher trainee allowances from January to June 2025,” Dr. Ato Forson said. “Going forward, all teachers and nurses will receive their allowances promptly.”
The Finance Minister emphasized that the government remains committed to supporting trainees in the education and health sectors, noting that regular and timely payments of allowances are a priority for the administration.
The announcement has been welcomed by trainee groups across the country, many of whom had raised concerns in recent months about delayed payments. The move is expected to bring relief to thousands of teacher and nursing trainees nationwide.
