Carpenter, 42, Slapped With 4 Years Sentence For Biting Off Driver’s Right Ear

The Adentan Circuit Court has sentenced a 42-year-old man to 4 years in custody for biting off the ear (right) of a public transport driver during a misunderstanding in Addoteiman, Accra.

The accused, Mr. Maxwell Senyo, pleaded guilty and gave explanations for his actions. The Judge who presided over the case, Mrs. Sedinam Awo Balokah, convicted the accused by slapping him with four years sentence despite his explanations and plea.

The prosecutor in the case, Inspector Eric Ransford Abban, reported that both the victim by name Mr. Anku Stephen, and the accused live in Addoteiman, Accra. The Inspector further explained that the victim and his girlfriend were seated comfortably near Mr. Senyo’s wooden structure on Friday, May 7, 2023, at approximately 8:00 in the evening.

There was later a confrontation when Mr. Senyo questioned Anku on what both lovers were doing at where they were seated. The verbal exchange got heated, led to a fight which caused Senyo to forcibly hold Stephen’s head and bit off his right ear. 

Senyo admitted biting the right ear of Stephen during court proceedings and has since, received a jail sentence of four years.
