The Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the completion of arrangements for the promotion of qualified staff on the Deputy Director rank to the higher positions of Director II and Director I.
According to a statement signed by the Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi, Management disclosed that a committee set up to oversee the process has submitted its final report. The committee was made up of representatives from the Ghana Education Service, the Public Services Commission, the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
The statement said extensive consultations were held with all relevant stakeholders, including significant reviews and inputs from the teacher unions, to ensure a fair and transparent promotion process.
GES Management indicated that the first call for applications, as well as the aptitude test for promotion to the ranks of Director II and Director I, is expected to be announced by the end of the first quarter of this year.
Importantly, Management announced that promotion to these ranks will no longer be dependent on the availability of limited office vacancies, as was previously the case. This development, the statement noted, is in line with a commitment made by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama to teachers.
GES assured all stakeholders that further details and comprehensive guidelines will be communicated in due course through official GES channels only.
