Renowned Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson has once again taken up the mantle in the fight against the recurring power crisis, commonly known as Dumsor, in Ghana. In a passionate statement released to the public, Nelson called upon all Ghanaians to join her in a demonstration aimed at addressing the pressing issue of inadequate electricity supply.
Reflecting on her previous involvement in the DumsorMustStop Campaign of 2015, Nelson expressed dismay at the resurgence of the power crisis and the prolonged duration of its impact on the nation. Recounting the collaborative efforts of that campaign, which involved key figures such as Kofi Bentil from Imani Ghana, Nelson emphasized the need for unity in demanding accountability from the government.
Despite challenges and opposition faced during the previous campaign, Nelson highlighted the importance of coming together once again to address the current situation. She reached out to individuals and organizations, including Imani Ghana, in an effort to mobilize support for another vigil. However, she noted that responses from key figures like Kofi Bentil and Franklin Cudjoe are yet to be received.
Undeterred by the lack of response, Nelson extended an open invitation to all Ghanaians, legal professionals, and concerned citizens to join her in advocating for meaningful action to resolve the power crisis. Emphasizing the collective effort required to effect change, Nelson reiterated that she cannot tackle this issue alone and called for support from all quarters.
Nelson’s unwavering commitment to addressing the power crisis underscores her dedication to the welfare of her nation and her belief in the power of collective action. As she prepares to lead the #DumsorMustGo Vigil, she urges all Ghanaians to unite in pursuit of a brighter and more prosperous future for the nation.
