Lois Ansaa Asiedu, a recent graduate of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Ghana, has turned to social media in her quest for employment opportunities after achieving first-class honours in Economics.

Despite her outstanding academic performance, Lois finds herself among the ranks of the unemployed, a reality that has prompted her to take matters into her own hands. On April 27, 2024, she took to platforms like X to share her qualifications and appeal for job prospects within financial institutions.

Her plea has not gone unnoticed, as the post quickly gained traction, amassing over 1,000 retweets and comments from users offering support, referrals, recommendations, and potential job openings.

In her social media post, Lois expressed her willingness to pursue a master’s degree abroad if necessary opportunities arise, highlighting her determination to continue her education while simultaneously seeking employment in her field of expertise.

“I have actually thought of doing my master’s degree outside the country. There have been several constraints contributing to my decision to seek employment. If there is an opportunity to apply for these scholarships, I would jump on them expeditiously,” she stated.

Lois’s story sheds light on the challenges faced by many young graduates in Ghana and serves as a reminder of the importance of leveraging all available resources, including social media, in the pursuit of career opportunities.

At this point I’m putting it out there that I’m in search of employment in any financial institution. Anyone with viable leads, please put me on.
