Hajia4Real Could Face 50 Years Imprisonment For The Alleged Romance Scam.
Ghanaian influencer Mona Faiz Montrage , popularly called Hajia4Real could face a total of fifty years imprisonment if she is proven guilty of the charges leveled against her.
Montrage was extradited to the US from the UK over an alleged $2m (£1.6m) romance scam. She has since pleaded not guilty to all charges leveled against her after appearing before a judge on Monday.
Montrage now faces a charge with “one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, one count of wire fraud, one count of money laundering conspiracy, and one count of money laundering, each of which carry a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison”.
Additionally, she is charged with a single count of receipt of stolen money, which is punishable by a sentence of 10 years in prison, and another single count of conspiracy to receive stolen money, which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
In all, she could face a total of fifty years imprisonment but that would be the decision the prosecutors to make if she’s convicted. Until proven otherwise, she stands innocent at the moment.
Meanwhile, Hajia4Real is said to still be in custody until all necessary bail conditions are met. She is set to reappear in court on June 28, 2023.
