Six Private Security Guards Arrested Over Shooting Incident Involving Adwoa Safo In Keabenya 

The Ghana Police Service has arrested six private security guards in connection with a shooting incident involving former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Adwoa Safo.

The incident happened on June 21, 2026, at Kwabenya in the Greater Accra Region.

In a statement signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng of the Accra Regional Public Affairs Unit, the police said the arrests followed initial investigations into the incident. The case gained public attention after photos showing Adwoa Safo and her vehicle with what appeared to be gunshot damage were shared on social media.

Police later carried out a search and retrieved five pump-action guns, one Taurus pistol loaded with seven rounds of 9mm ammunition, another magazine containing five rounds of ammunition, and communication devices.

According to the police, officers from the National Operations Directorate and the Intelligence Directorate were on a special assignment when they received a distress call from a residence in Kwabenya and rushed to the scene.

Investigations revealed that a ceremony was taking place at the residence of Mr. Tamakloe Safo Jehoshaphat, popularly known as Akofena. The police said Adwoa Safo allegedly arrived at the residence and requested entry but was refused.

The statement further indicated that armed security personnel at the residence allegedly fired gunshots during the incident. Adwoa Safo reportedly sustained gunshot injuries, while her vehicle was found with several bullet marks.

The six suspects and the weapons retrieved have been transferred to the Police Headquarters to assist with further investigations.

The police said efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest other people who may have been involved in the incident.

The latest arrests add to earlier statements released by both the police and the Kristo Asafo Mission concerning the shooting.
