Ibrahim Mahama Purchases Ghana’s Old Trains, Sends To North.
Ghanaian creative artist and author, Ibrahim Mahama, has bought Ghana’s oldest trains that are no more in use.
The Tamale-based artist, 35, is widely known for turning unwanted materials into distinct beautiful artifacts and sceneries.
His unique prowess in the art industry has widely promoted Ghana and further given the country a certain historical significance.
“Taking history up north to build new histories. From Gold Coast Railways to Ghana Railways and beyond. Trains crossing River Pra at Beposo Western Region of Ghana,” he updated when the trains were being transported to the Northern Region.
Mr. Mahama bought some of Ghana’s old planes in 2021 and created a museum and community space from them in Jenakpeng in the Northern Region.
Ibrahim Mahama was born in 1987 in Tamale, in the Northern Region of Ghana. His work has appeared in numerous international exhibitions. He is known for transformation of materials to explore themes of commodity, migration, globalisation and economic exchange.
