Six people have been confirmed dead following the crash of a medical aircraft into a residential property near Lake Naivasha in Kenya on Thursday afternoon, August 7, 2025.

The light aircraft, operated by Nairobi-based Amref Flying Doctors, departed from Wilson Airport in Nairobi before it went down near Morendat Farm, on the northeastern side of Lake Naivasha. The incident has been described as tragic by both local authorities and emergency responders.

“We are currently searching through the wreckage for additional victims. At the moment, four bodies have been recovered,” a Red Cross official said at the crash site.

Henry Wafula, the County Commissioner for Kiambu, confirmed that all four people onboard the aircraft, including the pilot, perished in the crash. He also reported that two individuals who were inside the house at the time were killed, and two others on the ground suffered serious injuries.

Eyewitnesses described a horrifying scene, that the aircraft appeared to catch fire mid-air before plunging into the building.

Photos from the crash site show emergency crews and local residents scrambling to help and contain the fire.
