A Takoradi District Court has handed a six-month jail term to Emmanuel Sam, a second-year student of Takoradi Technical Institute (TTI), after he stabbed a teacher on campus.
Sam, who is widely known by the nickname Agogo, was also directed by the court to pay GH₵3,000 to compensate the injured tutor or risk an extra three months behind bars. In addition, he must pay a GH₵2,400 fine to the court.
Reports presented on Connect FM’s Omanbapa morning program revealed that the incident happened on September 23, 2025. On that day, Sam sneaked onto campus through an unapproved entrance. A teacher who was supervising the area stopped him and attempted to escort him to the senior housemaster for disciplinary action.
In an effort to avoid punishment, Sam pulled out a pair of scissors from his pocket and stabbed the teacher in the arm. He was quickly restrained by other staff members, arrested, and later transferred to the Central Police Station.
Investigations uncovered that Sam was already known for absenteeism and repeated misconduct. He was charged and brought before the court on Friday, where the sentence was pronounced.
