VIDEO: Perez Chapel Declares 1-Week Fast & Prayers Over Agyinasare-Nogokpo Controversy

Perez Chapel International has openly declared a one-week fast and prayers amid controversies on social media that the church’s founder, Archbishop Charles Agyinasare, has labeled Nogokpo town in the Volta region as “demonic headquarters” on May 25.

The chiefs and people of Nogokpo did not take the statement lightly, and further summoned the man of God to appear before the traditional council within fourteen days. Nufialaga Mawufemor Korbla Nonyigbey, made this statement on behalf of the council in a press interaction.

Days after the controversy, Archbishop Charles Agyinasare sincerely expressed clarifications regarding his views and apologised to the people of Volta region for any inconvenience caused.

“My attention has been drawn to some social media commentary on some portions of  comments I made during the sermon at the Supernatural Empowerment Summit… in reference to Nogokpo, I never intended to revert the town but rather made reference to an incident that happened after a crusade at Aflao. I have absolutely no intention to cast a slur upon the people of Nogokpo town and Volta region as a whole.” Archbishop Aginasare said in a YouTube video.

On Sunday, June 4, 2023, the Presiding Bishop of Perez Chapel International, Benjamin Ohene Aboagye declared a one-week fast and prayers beseeching “ all pastors, elders, deacons, deaconesses, and all our churches to participate” to support their efforts to battle the rising controversy.

“I think we are all aware of the issue in Ghana. It is trending on social media and other platforms. We, the Perez Council, on behalf of the Executive Council, have taken notice of all these things and this is what the Executive Council is saying. We are declaring a one-week fast from the 5th to the 11th of this month,” Presiding Bishop of Perez Chapel International, Benjamin Ohene Aboagye said.

“We believe that God is our helper. He is our rock. He is the one we look up to. So this is the decision we have taken for now”, he added.
