England have had a deserving victory after a fine display over the Iran side with full time ball possession of 69%, 31% and a 6:2 win in favour of the Lions.
The English side started their 6:2 victory with an opening goal from Bellingham in the 35th minute of the first half. Saka and Sterling added one goal each in the 44th and 45th minutes, respectively. The cross by Harry Kane from England successfully found a teammate in the box where they started a counter attack. Raheem Sterling volleyed the ball into the back of the net with the right in the 45+1 minute to make it three before the first half break.
After the break, the Iran team held England until Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka broke the deadlock to score his second of the day. Rahim Sterling created the scoring opportunity for his teammate in the 62nd minute. Three minutes after Saka’s second, Iran responded with their first goal of the day from Mehdi Taremi in the 65th minute.
Marcus Rashford scored just 49 seconds to make it 5:1 after coming on for England to replace Saka. This is the third-quickest goal by a substitute in World Cup history. Jack Grilish also scored in the 90th minute to make it 6:1 but Iran has to pull one back from a penalty kick in the 90+13 minute.
