INEC Declares 70-Year-Old Ahmed Tinubu As President-Elect Of Nigeria

Bola Ahmed Tinubu, 70 years, has been declared Nigeria’s president—elect at the just ended presidential general election held on February 25 in Nigeria.

Mr. Tinubu had a total 8,794,726 votes followed by Mr. Atiki who had 6,984,520. Mr. Peter Obi also had a total of 6,101,533 votes whiles Mr. Kwabkwaso had 1,496,687 votes.

The top four candidates amassed a total of 23,377,466 votes which was 97.3% of the total votes. The other candidates had 648,474 combined which was 2.7%.

Nigeria is a West African country with about 70% of the population being under 30, and 42% being under the age of 15. 

Meanwhile, former president of Ghana, Mr. John Dramani Mahama visited Bola Ahmed Tinubu before the Nigerian was declared president-elect.

Mr Mahama is in currently in Nigeria as the lead of past Heads of State of African (West African Elders Forum) who are observing the elections in Nigeria.
